Replacing Zixi Hardware in active cluster with Pinned Objects

procedure to replace a zixi broadcaster (hardware) in a active broadcaster cluster that has “pinned” sources, channels and targets pre requisites within reason, execute the following remove as many of the services as possible off of the zixi broadcaster that is to be replaced take note and copy all the network, naming and password information from the broadcaster that is to be replaced export the configuration file go to the settings tab export export configuration file install hardware if there is room in the data center or specific rack location, install your replacement server prewire the server with the appropriate nics and available switch ports preset to mirror the port configs of the server to be replaced load your preferred os and zixi bx software, using the same version as on the server to be replaced instructions for zen master login to zen master targets go to the ‘target’ tab, filter targets by the name of the broadcaster that is to be replaced filter by broadcaster screenshot enter broadcaster name into broadcaster name filter box check the box next to name to highlight all entries screenshot with name checkbox checked disable all targets repeat the above process in the following order for channels, then sources instructions for server to be removed export and save the configuration file form the current broadcaster go to the settings tab in the broadcaster user interface click the "export" button screenshot export configuration file button power down and remove the server instructions for new server install new server if you were not able to prewire and configure the new server, at this point, wire in the server using the same cables that were previously used install your os install zixi broadcaster software configure the zixi broadcaster settings to mirror the settings of the previous server that has been removed from service copy/transfer the saved config file from the previous machine import and load the saved configuration file go to the settings tab in the new broadcaster user interface click the "install" button and select the saved config file instructions in zen master for restoring new server in zen master go to the page for the broadcaster in the broadcaster tab, locate the three dots/more actions button and select "config" from the drop down menu config option in drop down window screenshot following the instructions on the config window that pops up, copy and paste the config into into the replacement broadcaster using the broadcaster gui wait for zen master and the new broadcaster to establish a connection this should take less than a minute go to the "details" tab on the broadcaster page install agent z details page showing install agent z tab once agent z is finished installing, click "update broadcaster configuration" at the bottom of the details page screenshot of update broadcaster configuration buttton bringing streams back online we can now start to bring services back online, using the reverse of the disable procedure we performed at the start go to the "sources" tab and filter sources by broadcaster name check the "name" box to select all of the sources pinned to this broadcaster click the "enable" button while monitoring in zen master their connection status, wait until the alarms for all of the sources clear (status goes from red to green) repeat the same process for all "channels" pinned to the broadcaster while monitoring in zen master their connection status, wait until the alarms for all of the channels clear repeat the same process for all "targets" pinned to the broadcaster while monitoring in zen master their connection status, wait until the alarms for all of the targets clear validate that all targets have reconnected via both zen master target tab and the status indicators in the ‘output’ tab of the direct broadcaster gui
