High Max Bitrate Configuration
7 min
" warning high max bitrate configuration detected a value of 2x the actual bitrate is recommended " for informational purposes only it is best practice to optimize max bitrate for any source that does not have the max bitrate configured correctly an incorrect max bitrate value can create issues with the stream and, in certain situations, result in poor quality stream errors such as cc errors, packet loss, etc max bitrate is used by the broadcaster to determine buffer size when processing the transport stream it does not cap the bitrate we recommend setting it to 1 5x or 2x the actual (average) bitrate for srt, rtmp, and rist, you can manually adjust the max bitrate within the broadcaster or zen master for all other protocols, please contact your source provider to make this adjustment to adjust the max bitrate for srt, rtmp, and rist in the broadcaster log in to the broadcaster select the souce/input for the adjustment click the settings dropdown and select edit adjust the max bitrate to be 1 5 2x the actual bitrate of the stream select ok this will not disrupt the stream and does not require it to be restarted in zen master when creating or editing an srt or rist source, use the "max bitrate" field within the configuration settings setting it to approximately 2x the actual (average) bitrate, unless you know the max bitrate the max bitrate for rtmp sources cannot be set or changed in zen master if you need to adjust it, you will need to do so in the broadcaster example below for srt source configuration window showing max bitrate setting error notification within zen master the error will automatically clear from zen master within 15 minutes this notification is enabled for the default notification profile within zen master if you prefer not to receive this notification, you can duplicate the default notification profile or create a new custom profile and disable this notification zenmaster > configure > event profile > search for “max” > disable “max bitrate set too high”
