The Zixi Video Acceleration Proxy is a software component, which is installed on the local machine, that enables pulling a stream from Zixi Broadcaster over HTTP, while using the Zixi protocol. The Zixi Video Acceleration Proxy is mainly used to preview a stream to assess its quality, by playing it on a local player. The Zixi Video Acceleration Proxy component is installed on the local machine, while Zixi Broadcaster can be running on another machine (e.g., in the cloud) or can be running on the same machine. The Proxy uses port 4500 (HTTP) or 4501 (HTTPS) to listen to the stream. 

The Zixi Video Acceleration Proxy is also required when using Zixi Broadcaster to transfer large files. In this case, the component allows both uploading and downloading the files.
