The Zixi Video Acceleration Proxy is a software component which is installed on the local machine, that enables pulling a stream from ZEC over HTTP while using the Zixi protocol. The Zixi Video Acceleration Proxy is mainly used to preview a stream to assess its quality by playing it on a local player. VLC video player has another version of the proxy, called Zixi VLC Plugin, which offers the same functionality. For more information, see Zixi VLC Plugin Setup Guide. 

The Zixi Video Acceleration Proxy component is installed on the local machine, while ZEC can be running on another machine (e.g., in the cloud) or can be running on the same machine. The Proxy uses port 4500 (HTTP) or 4501 (HTTPS) to listen to the stream.

ECN lets a congested router mark a packet to signal congestion rather than dropping it. Sender marks its packets as ECN-capable; a congested router along the path can then flip the bits to signal congestion without packet loss.

TAMS
