To create a ZEN Master live event, one or more pre-configured **Failover Sources** are required. While a ZEN Master Live Event has a predefined start time and duration, the Failover Source is persistent, and can be re-used for multiple events, such as a weekly sporting event, or remote news segment.

A Failover Source consists of:

- **Sources** – One or more (i.e., redundant) content sources, such as the from-venue game feeds, or the package sports game playout, etc. As part of the configuration of the Failover Source you can specify that a Source is Preffered or not. Only sources with Auto-Pull enabled are supported in Failover Sources. 
- **Slate** (optional) - A slate source consisting of either a local or remote transport stream file, or live zixi source. As part of the configuration of the Failover Source you can specify that one or more sources will be used as Slate.
