**To create a new MediaConnect Flow Channel:**

In the main navigation, click** Channels**.

Click **+ Add**.
The **Create New Channel** selection menu is displayed.

Click on **AWS MediaConnect Flow**.
The **Create MediaConnect Flow** window is displayed.

In the **Info** section, in the** Name** field, enter a logical name for the Channel.

In the **Tags **field, select one or more of the predefined Tags from the drop-down list.
Tags are used for access control. By selecting an Tag, you are relating this Channel to that Tag. Tags are associated with certain roles (through the Users & Roles screen), and roles, in turn, are associated with users and user groups. If you would like to create a new Tag, see [Creating a Tag](docId\:YpM9tw81ap6nq8sTKv4Rd).

In the **Events Configuration Profile** field, select from the dropdown list the profile that you would like to apply to this Channel. By default, the *Default* profile is applied.

*Events Profiles* consist of a series of rules that determine precisely how various types of Events are logged and what results they trigger.

In the **Configuration** section, verify that **Create New** is selected (default).

In the **AWS Account** field, select from the drop-down list the AWS MediaConnect account that you would like to use for this Flow.

If the Source does not exist in the cluster, then the cluster will pull the Source automatically.

In the **Region** field, select from the drop-down list the AWS region that you would like to use for this Flow.

In the **Availability Zone** field, select from the drop-down list the Availability Zone that you would like to use for this Flow.

In the **Source** field, select from the drop-down list the AWS MediaConnect type Source that you would like to assign to this Channel.

Specifying a **Source** is optional. You can create a Channel without assigning a Source, although it won’t be activated until you assign a Source at a later time. You can also switch to a different Source at a later time. Under **Monitoring Configuration, **select the **Enable Thumbnails** checkbox, which allow thumbnails to update in the AWS Media Source Stream tab.

Under **VPC Interfaces**, if you want to stream content between your Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) and MediaConnect, without going over the public internet, click **Add VPC Interface**.

In the **Name** field, enter a name for the VPC interface.

:::WorkflowBlockItem
In the **Type** field, select the type of network adapter that you want MediaConnect to use on this interface.

:::WorkflowBlockItem
In the **Role ARN **field, select the Role ARN of the IAM role that you have created when you set up MediaConnect as a trusted device.

In the **Subnet** field, select the VPC subnet that you want MediaConnect to use to set up your VPC configuration.

In the **Security Groups** field, select the relevant security groups and the inbound and outbound rules.

To add additional VPC interface, click **Add VPC Interface**.

Under the **Media Streams** section, click **Add Media Stream** to add a media stream to represent each component (e.g. video, audio, etc.) of the flow. Media streams can only be added to a flow if the Source uses the ST 2110-22 JPEG-XS or CDI protocols.

In the **Name** field, enter a name for the media stream.

In the **Type** field, select the relevant stream type (video, audio, ancillary data).

In the **Stream ID** field, enter a unique numeric identifier for this media stream.

In the **Media Clock Rate** field, select the clock rate in KHz for the stream. For video 90000 is selected; for audio, select between 48000 and 96000; for ancillary data 96000 is selected.

In the **Video Format** field, select the maximum format of the video (affects flow pricing).

In the **Exact Framerate** field, select the frame rate for the video (in frames per second).

In the **Colorimetry** field, select the format used for the representation of color.

In the **Scan Mode** field, select the type of compression used to smooth the video appearance.

In the **TCS** field, select the transfer characteristics system that is used in the video.

In the **Range** field, select the encoding range of the video.

In the **PAR** field, select the pixel aspect ration of the video.

To add additional Media Streams, click **Add Media Stream**.

Select the **Muted** checkbox if you would like to disable error/recovery notifications for this Channel upon initial configuration.

You can Enable/Unmute the Channel at any time.

A MediaConnect Flow Channel can be assigned to a standard Target of the following types in ZEN Master: Push, Pull, RIST, RTP/RTP-FEC

| Enable Thumbnails | Select this option to enable thumbnails to update in the AWS Media Source Stream tab. |
| Frozen Video Minimal Duration \[seconds] | Specify the default minimal duration in seconds of frozen video after which a Frozen video alert will be triggered. Leave empty to disable. |
| Blank Video Minimal Duration \[seconds] | Specify the default minimal duration in seconds of blank video after which a Blank video alert will be triggered. Leave empty to disable. |
| Silent Audio Minimal Duration \[seconds] | Specify the default minimal duration in seconds of silent audio after which a Silent Audio alert will be triggered. Leave empty to disable. |
