Tags are used to control access to ZEN Master Resources as well as other system objects such as Sources, Channels, Targets, Automation Task Sets, Reports etc. Each object instance is assigned a Tag. User Roles allow access to objects based on the related Tags. Only users who are assigned Roles that allow access to a particular Tag can access objects associated with that Tag. To learn more about User Management in ZEN Master, see [Account Management](docId\:t49XhHyZCGfR2Rz2GtnRm).

Tags are created on the **Configuration** > **Tags** screen[\[1\]](docId\:vPSZIytS_uzxdb-zvrAcX) . They are then assigned to Roles on the **Account Management** > **Roles **screen, see [Managing Roles](docId\:yEXZ8AiX--tjAjZsol3Ns).

The Tags screen shows a list of all Tags that have been created in the system.
