You can add a Live Event and schedule it to begin at a certain period of time or manually. Make sure you have prepared a Failover Source to be used. For more infomation, see [Pre-requisites](docId\:rC1lCxf9Cdp35o2nHyEZm).

In the **Name** field, enter a name for the Live Event.

In the **Tags **field, select one or more of the predefined Tags from the drop-down list.
Tags are used for access control. By selecting a Tag, you are relating this Live Event to that Tag. Tags are associated with certain roles (through the Users & Roles screen), and roles, in turn, are associated with users and user groups. If you would like to create a new Tag, see [Creating a Tag](docId\:YpM9tw81ap6nq8sTKv4Rd).

In the **Mode** field, select **Sources**. Channels are deprecated, and will be completely removed in a future update. The Failover Source should include all the sources you will need for the live event, typically this will include a Slate source, a primary source (Preferred) and a backup source. It is possible to select multiple Sources. It is recommended to have multiple redundant sources with matching content and slate. In this case, the event phase transitions, and slating will be applied on all selected Sources in parallel.

In the **Staging Mode **field, select one of the following:

- **Auto** – in this option the system will automatically move between the various stages.
- **Manual** – in this mode, the times are a guideline only, and you will have to manually move between the various stages.

You can set the **Staging Mode** to **Auto **but override that for individual stages by selecting/deselcting the **Auto** setting of each individual step or during the event itself by clicking **Switch Next to Manual** on the Event Mamagement Screen (see [Switching to Manual or Auto During the Event](docId\:CpoByE-8DDBja2Qg9gY98)). Overriding the Auto Mode from Manual to Auto will switch any further stages added.

If you want the live event Channel to be disabled when the event completes, select the **Disable Source when the Event completes**.
:::

:::WorkflowBlockItem
If you want to link the event to an external system for additional event metadata and scheduling information, enter the link in the **External Link** field.

Under **Stages**, configure each stage by following these steps:

1. In the **Name **field, specify a name for the stage (e.g., Pre-game).
2. Specify whether you want the transition to the next stage to be automated or manual by enabling/disabling the **Auto Mode** checkbox. By default, this checkbox is enabled or disabled according to what you have selected in the **Staging Mode** field.
3. In the **Start Time** field, click to open the calendar and select the date and then the time in which the event stage will begin. This field is **mandatory **even if you have disabled **Auto Mode** transition in the previous stage (i.e., the stage is **Manual**). This means that Manual stages must also have a "notional" start time.
4. If you want this stage to output the Slate, select the **Force Slate**. The Slate is configured as one or more of the Input Sources of the Failover Source.
5. Under **Pre-roll clip (optional)**, If you have configured promo clips to be played out automatically during stage transitions or manually (see step ?? below), select the clip from the drop-down menu.
6. To add another stage, click **Add** and repeat the steps above.
:::

:::WorkflowBlockItem
If you want to use promo clips that will be played out automatically during stage transitions or manually, under **Clips**, click the **Add** button and enter the clip’s **Name** and the **URL** of the TS file.
:::

:::WorkflowBlockItem
Click **Save**.
