The following updates have been pushed to ZEN Master on October 1, 2018.


HITLESS FAILOVER CONFIGURATION FOR SOURCES

ZEN Master now allows for configuration of Hitless Failover, which provides seamless switching
between multiple binary identical source streams. V12 Broadcaster is required for Hitless Failover.
To enable Hitless Failover, Add a new source and select Hitless Failover.

Next, select two or more binary identical sources

and save the new source. The new Hitless Failover source can then be added to a channel like any
other source.

If a Broadcaster is licensed for the X264 software encoding codec, ZEN Master will automatically use
that codec when configuring the transcoding profile for the Broadcaster. V1.11 Broadcaster or later is
required to use the X264 codec.


When muting notifications, the user can now specify that the mute should be active until a date/time,
after which it will automatically unmute.

Additionally, the user can now acknowledge an error state on an item.

When acknowledged, the red light on the item will be a lighter shade of red and a check mark will
display next to the item showing it is in an acknowledged state.

The item will also not be counted in the error totals in the Dashboard Status

and on the left-hand pane of the ZEN Master page.

Finally, the acknowledged item will not display on the OPEN ISSUES list on the Dashboard.


The minimum delay on source thumbnail rotation is now 10 seconds instead of the previous 15
second delay.


Overlays on the Sources thumbnail view can now be disabled in the case where they are covering
important information. Visibility of the overlays is controlled by clicking the “OVERLAY (ON/OFF)”
button.

When viewing history graphs, the user can now select a predefined time period
or specify a custom date/time range

and all history graphs on the page will adjust to the selected date/time period.

The user can now enter free form notes on objects in ZEN Master including Feeders, Broadcast
Clusters, Receivers, Sources, Channels, and Targets. Notes are autosaved as they are typed.

Input/output bandwidth limits for monitoring can now be set on the Advanced page when adding or
configuring a Broadcast Cluster.

When the bandwidth on a Broadcaster in a cluster exceeds the cluster limit, the Broadcast cluster will
go immediately to an Error event. If notifications are enabled, bandwidth events will create
notifications the same as other events.
For clusters with manually created Broadcasters, the bandwidth limit can be set on the manual
Broadcaster on the Advance page.

Limits on the manual Broadcaster takes precedence over limits on the Broadcaster cluster.


Previously, Sources could be easily cloned. Now, both Channels and Targets can be easily cloned.


IP Whitelist on AWS clusters can now control the AWS security groups.

User actions are now logged with more details including mute and acknowledge and enable/disable
have unique messages.

(Differentiated Services Code Point) a 6-bit field within the IP header of a network packet. The 6-bit value (ranging from 0 to 63) classifies the type of traffic and its desired priority level.

DSCP

Refers to a transport stream packet that is 204 bytes in length, which is a variation of the standard 188-byte TS packet.

204B_TS_Packet

(Program Clock Reference) helps synchronize the decoder's clock with the encoder's clock. This synchronization is essential for maintaining audio-video sync and ensuring smooth playback.

(Estimated Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio) a variation of the traditional PSNR metric, developed to estimate video quality without needing access to the original (reference) video—which is a key limitation of standard PSNR

ePSNR

(Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio) a widely used metric in image and video processing to measure the quality of a reconstructed or compressed image compared to the original.

PSNR

(Common Media Application Format) a media streaming format developed by Apple and Microsoft and standardized by the MPEG group to simplify and unify the delivery of streaming video across different platforms and devices.

CMAF

(Quick UDP Internet Connections) a modern transport layer network protocol developed by Google and later adopted by the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) as a standard designed to improve performance.

QUIC

DTS-PCR delta refers to the time difference between the Decoding Time Stamp (DTS) and the Program Clock Reference (PCR). Understanding this delta is important for ensuring proper synchronization and smooth playback of audio and video streams.

(Real-time Transport Protocol) a protocol used in media streaming, especially for real-time audio and video transmission over IP networks

A network management technique used to control the flow and volume of data being transmitted over a network. Its main goal is to optimize performance, reduce latency, and ensure a smooth streaming experience, especially when bandwidth is limited.

Traffic_Shaping

(Datagram Transport Layer Security) a security protocol designed to provide privacy, integrity, and authentication for datagram-based applications. It is essentially the datagram version of TLS (Transport Layer Security).

DTLS

(Network Interface Card) a hardware component—either built into a computer's motherboard or added as an expansion card—that allows a device to connect to a network, such as a local area network (LAN) or the internet.

(Constant Bitrate) a method of encoding audio or video where the bitrate remains the same throughout the entire stream. This means that the amount of data used per second is fixed, regardless of the complexity of the content being streamed.

(Signal Processing Notification): The XML message that is returned from the SDS outlining any stream switches or SCTE35 manipulation that should occur.

(Signal Processing Event): The XML message that is sent to the SDS when triggered by a relevant SCTE message
