:::

2. *`sudo nano /etc/security/limits.conf`*
3. edit row with *"`* soft core unlimited`"*
4. add line *sysctl kernel.core\_pattern="`/zixi/cores/core.%p`"*
5. Save changes *Ctrl + O*
6. Exit from nano* Ctrl + X*
7. Check with the following command:
 `ulimit -c`
8. Check if it is unlimited after restart as well
 `cat /proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern`

:::hint{type="info"}
edit /etc/security/limits.conf - will make the core dumps creation persistent

sysctl kernel.core\_pattern="/zixi/cores/core.%p" - will put the cores in the defined location
:::

:::hint{type="danger"}
The limits config is not persistent across reboots. To persist this config add

`kernel.core_pattern = /zixi/cores/core.%p`to `/etc/sysctl.conf`
:::
