Installing CEF software and X Server on a Zixi Broadcaster

the following section includes instructions on how to install the cef software and xserver components on an existing zixi broadcaster this example uses an ec2 intel/amd x86 instance running amazon linux 2023 (al2) other machine and os types will require some changes to the process below the procedure assumes that you have zixi broadcaster installed and running for more details and instructions, see zixi installation guide if you are using the nvidia gpu transcoding option, it is assumed that you have installed the required driver and ensure the instance contains an nvidia gpu, such as a g4dn ec2 instance for more details and instructions, see zixi transcoder installation guide docid\ lgq7l9suyqop2etabv1ul to install cef software and x server on a zixi broadcaster install your x server of choice this example uses tigervnc x server to install the tigervnc on amazon linux 2023, follow the aws instructions here https //docs aws amazon com/linux/al2023/ug/installing gnome al2023 html as part of the install tigervnc procedure, in step 2, be sure to set a vnc password as the default user account, such as ec2 user on al2, and not the root account, as broadcaster does not run under the root accoun after installing the x server, verify that the x server is running on port 5901 with sudo netstat tulpen |grep 590\\ tcp 0 0 0 0 0 0 5901 0 0 0 0 \\ listen 1000 78547 1304/xvnc tcp6 0 0 5901 \\ listen 1000 download the zixi cef installer from the zixi customer portal to your /home/ec2 user folder make sure the cef version number is exactly the same version as your zixi broadcaster the installer scripts are expecting the home directory to be /home/ec2 user if you are installing on a non al2 system, you will need to manually edit the files to specify another default home directory for assistance, contact zixi support extract the downloaded file, such as zixi cef installer 17 6 45597 tar xz, into the home directory you will see the following files run the startup script from the home directory cd /home/ec2 user sudo /zixi html overlay startup sh open the broadcaster ui create a transcode on an input and check to see that the dynamic overlay url field appears in the transcode dialog box if cef was not installed properly, the field will not appear
